Met Gala 2025: Mona Patel, Isha Ambani & Natasha Poonawalla Turn Heads in Couture That Honors Craft, Culture & Cutting-Edge Style

When tradition meets technology and opulence embraces origin, fashion ascends to its most poetic form. That’s exactly what unfolded at Met Gala 2025, where this year’s theme—“Superfine: Tailoring the Black Style”—paid tribute to the elegance, resistance, and refined self-expression rooted in Black dandyism. It was a night that celebrated tailoring as art, fashion as identity, and legacy as luxury.

Among the standout moments of the evening were three Indian icons—Mona Patel, Isha Ambani, and Natasha Poonawalla—who brought their unique cultural lens to the global stage with unmistakable poise and innovation.

Mona Patel: Tailored with Tech & Theatrical Presence

Entrepreneur and philanthropist Mona Patel made a commanding Met Gala debut in a bold, custom Thom Browne ensemble that fused structure with spectacle. Her sharply tailored black tuxedo-inspired silhouette, paired with a shimmering corset and architectural hat, was a powerful reinterpretation of masculine tailoring through a feminine lens.

But the real showstopper? A robotic dog designed by MIT, gliding beside her on a diamond-studded leash—an audacious nod to the fusion of couture and code.

Tailored with tech, Mona’s look was a bold statement of modern luxury. The precision-cut layers, lustrous textures, and avant-garde accessories were not just fashion—they were storytelling in motion.

Isha Ambani: Regal Modernity Anchored in Heritage

Isha Ambani Piramal turned heads in a bespoke Anamika Khanna ensemble that flawlessly balanced tradition and modernity. With a sculpted corset and tailored trousers softened by a flowing drape, her silhouette spoke of strength refined by grace.

What truly elevated the ensemble was her vintage Cartier neckpiece—an heirloom that brought historic weight and timeless elegance to the look.

For us, Isha’s presence on the red carpet was a testament to how contemporary tailoring can coexist with heritage detailing. The intricate surface textures, layered embellishments, and elegant restraint made this a masterclass in quiet power dressing.

Natasha Poonawalla: Sculpted Couture with Soul

Never one to shy away from drama, Natasha Poonawalla stunned in a custom Manish Malhotra couture creation that was equal parts archival reverence and sculptural fantasy. Her fishtail silhouette, layered with vintage lace and couture structure, felt like wearable history.

At the heart of this look was intricate Indian Gara embroidery, a meticulous art form rooted in Parsi tradition. Rich in symbolism and storytelling, Gara embroidery is a legacy passed down through generations—and here, it took center stage on one of fashion’s biggest nights.

By integrating this centuries-old technique, Natasha didn’t just wear couture—she honored culture. From the tailored jacket to the imperial-toned corsetry, the ensemble redefined what it means to bring Indian heritage to the global fashion conversation.

At House of Worth, we saw in this look the very essence of what we stand for: reviving legacy crafts and reimagining them for the now.

What It Means for Designers, Artisans & Fabric Enthusiasts

Met Gala 2025 served as a striking reminder that tailoring is more than technique—it is legacy, identity, and storytelling woven in every seam. From the celebration of Black style to the elevation of heritage craftsmanship, it marked a new chapter in global fashion.

And at House of Worth Fabrics, we believe the soul of every garment begins with fabric—carefully chosen, consciously created, and culturally resonant.

From Mona Patel’s tech-infused tailoring to Isha Ambani’s heirloom elegance and Natasha Poonawalla’s embroidered symbolism, this Met Gala was proof that when fashion is intentional, it becomes immortal.

Because for those who know that fabric isn’t just a beginning—it is the story—House of Worth is where it begins.
